the perfect daddy

4 Sing to God, sing in praise of his name,
extol him who rides on the clouds[
a] ;
rejoice before him—his name is the Lord.
5 A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows,
is God in his holy dwelling.
6 God sets the lonely in families,[
b]
he leads out the prisoners with singing;
but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land.
Psalm 68:4-6

A small piece of my heart every year is always a little sad on Father’s Day. Not having a Dad, or one that ever truly loved me has caused me so much pain. Girls long for the love of their fathers – and when they don’t have it, heartache ensues. But there’s good news! No matter how hurtful or disappointing our earthly fathers are – we all have a truly perfect and loving One.

5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”[a] 6 So we say with confidence,“The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”[b] Hebrews 13:5-6

God is there for me at every moment of my life. He was there for all my achievements, failures and attempts. He loves me, woos me, blesses me, convicts me, shelters me, teaches me and rebukes me. I don’t need to feel like I’m at a loss at all. God sustains me, fills me and satisfies me – in Him I have all that I need. And with Him, I can do anything.
